Claire Potter: Writing Acts

Writing Acts is a research event conceived of by artist-writer Claire Potter. It brings together the artists, writers, and researchers, Karen Di Franco, Rose-Anne Gush, Bridget Penney, and Nathan Walker to share their research and works-in-progress that pertain to forms and modes of ‘performance writing’. The event is a closed working-session toward the development of future works and is supported by Bluecoat in collaboration with the Micro Social Cultures programme organised by Jamie Sutcliffe for Bosse & Baum, London.

Jamie Sutcliffe is a writer and publisher based in London. His essays, interviews and reviews have been published by Art Monthly, Frieze, Rhizome, The White Review, EROS Journal, The Quietus and Bricks From The Kiln. He co-directs Strange Attractor Press, an independent publishing house devoted to the documentation of unpopular cultures, now distributed by the MIT Press.Independently he co-edits both A-or-ist, a journal of new art writing, and Berserker, an anthology of underground comics and unabashed genre work published by Breakdown Press.
Claire Potter is an artist writer from Merseyside working across performance, publication, installation, and film. Recent art writing commissions from CCA Derry-Londonderry (2017), David Roberts Art Foundation (2018), and Tate Modern (2019). Exhibitions at Wysing Arts Centre (2017), ChelseaSPACE (2018), and IMT gallery (2019). In 2017 they were nominated for the Paul Hamlyn Artist Award and the Arts Foundation Award. They have published two books of experimental fiction and are currently working on a third.
