The Hawick Paper notes that Ritual Passage ‘will honour two important figures in Hawick’s little-known Black histories – world-famous anti-slavery campaigner Frederick Douglass and Hawick-raised Tom Jenkins, Britain’s first Black schoolteacher… the exhibition explores antiracism and launches a new educational resource for young people, school pupils and community groups – encouraging them to make masks and produce films in tribute to Douglass and Jenkins, while engaging with their immediate environment through the four natural elements.’

Tickets to Jade’s keynote are priced £3 / £5 / £7 on a ‘pay as you can’ basis. Admission to her exhibition is free.
