The paintings portray a revolving cast of characters, which recur throughout Einsiedel’s practice; archetypical symbols which populate the cast of a personal mythology.
The historical, fictional or childhood characters in Einsiedel’s paintings perform the same role as medieval
patrons, who often appeared in the paintings they commissioned, playfully exposing a vanity in both the
production and consumption of art. As the subjects reappear around the three sides of the booth the beginning of a narrative is suggested amongst the characters, left open for the viewer to complete.
